Unique Moments Photography from Gig Harbor Washington had the honor to capture Snowy and Ryan’s awesome wedding at the Pickering Barn in Issaquah Wa 98027. This wedding was one we have been excited about all year long. Our bride has done some modeling for us and she is simply a dream to photograph. Oh Yeah, Ryan is great in front of the camera as well, LoL. When we met them to photograph the engagement session, we had zero issues getting them to relax in front of the camera. As a mater of fact, they were so comfortable in front of the camera that the session went about 3 hours. Everything we tried just worked. So we knew they were going to be a piece of cake to photograph on the day of the wedding. Capturing Snowy for some modeling projects also gave us perspective for poses and looks that worked well for her. So, we were pretty excited to capture this wedding.
November weddings in Washington often bring rain to the table and this wedding day had showers in the forecast. We have always brag to our brides that it never rains on Unique Moments Photography wedding days. Well its 10 yrs and still counting. We have Never been rained out. The ground was wet but when it came time to go out and capture outside images, Mother Nature cooperated and we got all the outside images that were in the plans. Bridal party, bride and groom captured with No rain. Awesome, because it was only about a 2 hr window before it started to pour again. Talk about Luck. We should have bought a lottery ticket.
The pickering Barn wedding venue is simply a fantastic event center for a wedding. The grounds are photo friendly and beautifully landscaped. The inside of the barn, which at one time was an actual horse barn for boarding purposes, has been completely redesigned for a formal event venue. Country themed weddings work well at Pickering Barns. The pictures always look unique and fun. The ceremony area was left alone with the old wood walls and as a result, the area has its own unique look and feel. It really doesn’t get much better for these type of themed wedding venues.
The bride and groom elected NOT to have a first look. They did it old school and Snowy made Ryan sweat it out until she walked down the isle. Snowy was simply beautiful. The ceremony went off with out a hitch and after a kiss for luck, these two were ready to party the night away. But, first things first. They went back into the elements and beat the rain to get their formal pictures done before the reception started. We just could not have been any luckier to be able to dodge the rain like we did for this wedding. The Record is still intact. 10 yrs and No rain Outs. #Boom
The reception was simply fantastic and guest were treated to a good ol BBQ style dinner. What can we say except, the food was some of the best BBQ we have ever had. Delicious. Reception festivities included first dances, cake cutting and speeches from family members and friends.
We are continually amazed at how fortunate we are to have clients that trust what we do and allow us to capture the most intimate moments of their lives. This wedding had one for the highlight reals. We have captured many emotional moments at weddings but this wedding definitely ranks right near the top of the list for high impact emotional moments.
The highlight of this reception was the father daughters dance.
Our bride lost both of her parents when she was just 13 yrs old. Her Uncle, who was her mothers brother, stepped up and finished raising Snowy. So he is her 2nd father. Snowy wanted to have a first look with her uncle and have a special moment with him before the ceremony started. It was a very emotional first look with dad. We knew the father daughter dance was going to be emotional but we did not know what he had in the plans until the reception started.
He approached us and said he had something he wanted to do for the father daughter dance. After he told us the surprise, we knew it would be one of the highlights for the 2016 season. As the DJ announced the father daughter dance and started the music, The uncle, raised his hand up and asked the DJ to stop the music. He pulled off his jacket and underneath was a T-shirt that he had made up with our brides fathers Picture printed on the front. He wanted his niece to have a first dance with her father. Trust us, there was not a dry eye in the building. The pictures tell the story of one of the most emotional moments we captured for the 2016 season. For a wedding photographer, it doesn’t get any better than this. But for a family to let us capture this, at a truly difficult moment in their lives, was something we will always remember and cherish. We really are honored and we truly feel like we are a small part of these families when something like this happens. Its something we will never forget.
Well that just about concluded the night. Lots of crazy dance shots and lots of fun times were captured for these families. But just as we thought that it would not get any better, something else magical happened.
It started to rain again. As a matter of fact, It started to pour. We approached Snowy and Ryan and said, we have an idea !!! Lets get the umbrellas out because its raining outside. 10 minutes later we captured one of the best shots for the 2016 season. We wrapped a flash in a clear plastic bag and went outside to play in the rain.
This truly was a special wedding. One of our favorite couples. A Beautiful bride and groom, fantastic supportive families, an awesome venue. What else can we say. One of the best weddings we have captured in the past 5 yrs.
