Unique Moments Photography had the  distinct honor and privilege to capture this beautiful Military wedding at Joint Base Lewis-McChord ( JBLM)  for Grace and Andrew. The wedding took place at the Fort Lewis Main Post Chapel and everything about this wedding was special and Off the  AWESOME charts scales. This was one of the weddings that we could not wait to capture.

The Day started off with our bride getting ready at her sisters home. Hair and make up for all the girls,  and their little niece who was intent on stealing the show was done at the home. We had a lot of fun capturing some of the getting ready images with this little one. All the brides maids were Graces sisters so it was very relaxed and we heard lots of sister stories while the girls were getting ready.

After everyone was ready to go, a Limo pulled up and surprised our bride and sisters. All of the girls got in the limo and we headed to a local park to capture photos of the bride and brides maids before the ceremony. Our couple decided they did not want to see each other until the bride walked down the isle. So “Old School” all the way. However when we arrived, we managed to pull off a first look with the brides father who is also a military officer.

Our bride entered the chapel with her groom anxiously waiting for her  at the end of the isle . He was desperately trying to keep his composure. The ceremony was a traditional ceremony performed by a catholic priest.

After the ceremony it was a short trip to a lake and reception venue on the base. I was surprised just how big JBLM is and how much this base is a city inside this state. Everything is there. Once we got to the reception venue, family pictures were captured during cocktail hour and guest were then  treated to an awesome meal. Traditional reception activities took place. Cake cuttings, speeches, first dances by the bride and groom, followed by the father daughter and Mother son dances. Some additional sunset shots were captured with the bride and groom and they skipped away to a private cabin on the lake after a fun fireworks exit. The day was perfect.

We want to caution anyone thinking about captured a wedding at JBLM. This is a military facility and you must treat it  as such the entire time you are privileged to be  on the base. EVERYONE will be required to pass a background check before you are allowed to be on the facility. We would recommend going to the base and getting this done a week before the wedding. Having an enhanced drivers license will help speed the process up. DO NOT avoid doing this. The limo company that arrived at the gate with the bridal party did not pass the quick background check and he was forced to turn around and leave the facility. Thankfully we had a larger car as did the videographer. We managed to load up both cars with the bridesmaids and the bride and got to the chapel on time for the ceremony. No free passes. Everyone must pass a background check. So do this before you arrive.

If you get a chance to capture a wedding at JBLM, do it and be prepared to get your background checks done well in advance of the ceremony. This wedding was a Home run in anyones book and we met wonderful families and had such a wonderful time with everyone. Congratulations to Grace and Andrew for your wedding. It was simply spectacular and your families are awesome.
