Unique Moments Photography traveled to the Sun Country Lodge in Winthrop Washington to capture this Beautiful wedding in the heart of the cascades mountains. Sun Country lodge is located at 604 Patterson Lake Rd, Winthrop, WA 98862 and its a 5 hr drive from Gig Harbor Wa. Its worth the time and effort to make this drive and see this spectacular area of Washington. The drive through the Columbia river valleys is simply beautiful and the views on this cascade Highway drive is worth every minute you spend in the car.
Right smack in the heart of the cascade mountains, the Sun Country lodge offers it all for winter weddings. Plenty of the white stuff, beautiful vistas, plenty of cold air ( it was 18 degrees at sunrise), plush accommodations for your guests, outstanding food and dining facilities, and a staff that is top notch. You cant go wrong with this venue. It has everything imaginable.
Our bride had her sight set for a winter themed wedding. The day started of very cold. It was 18 degrees at Sunrise and it was only 28 degrees at the start of the ceremony. But no one complained one bit. This was a smaller intimate family event with close friends invited. Formals were captured overlooking the cascade mountains and our bride arranged for horse drawn sled arrive for fun pictures with the bride and groom, the bridal party and family members. The day was simply perfect and the horse and sled pictures were loads of fun to capture.
The ceremony overlooked the cascade mountain range and happened at sunset as the sun set behind the Cascade Mountains. Our bride entered the outside venue with her father with 28 degree Air temperature and the sun was setting on the ice before her. The view before her was absolutly amazing. The ceremony was short and sweet. They exchanged rings, enjoyed a shot of great scotch, and after a Kiss for luck, this couple was ready to go inside the warm lodge and to party the night away.
The reception was in a smaller private banquet room and the food served to the guests was simply outstanding. Reception activities included speeches from the best man and maid of honor, cake cutting, and the first dance for the bride and groom. The father daughter dance and the mother son dance followed. Soon after, the bridal party and close friends invaded the dance floor and danced the night away. This wedding was like most weddings. Family and friends got together and spent the day with each other celebrating the new beginnings for the bride and groom who are entering a new chapter in their lives. We absolutly love being part of these events and telling these wonderful stories with the pictures that we capture. This was our first winter wedding here in Washington. We have captured several when we lived in Minnesota and this one was very similar. Winter weddings are cold, they present challenges for photographers such as equipment that stops working in the cold air. But, winter weddings offer beautiful photo opportunities and we would absolutly go back to Sun Country lodge in a heartbeat. This wedding was beautiful and a blast to capture from start to finish. Congratulations to both of these families. This one was very special and we were honored to be a small part of the day.Our goal when we create a blog post is to show you a story with the images we capture from a wedding and this wedding was photo rich experience.
